I had the distinct pleasure, and when I say pleasure, I mean bone-melting-what-a-fantastic-read-pleasure of reading this ahead of time, and can I just say, this book (and all the stories in it) rocked?
There were so many intriguing, and romantic stories all packed into one book, and it put me in heaven. Favorites of the anthology written by: Julie Ann Walker, Lea Griffith, ML Buchman, and Suzanne Brockman. The focus of the stories surround difficulties each military member had to face while at the same time, love or things happening to those they love coming under some sort of conflict or threat. I loved how each author delivered the problem and wrapped up the conflict with minimal time. While I'm normally a lover of novels and/or longer books, these stories definitely kept me reading. The charity link is also something very dear to my heart, so I'd like to give a big Hoorah to all authors for donating their time to delivering great stories! Let's help all of them by giving them a big shout out and congrats on their new release, which is coming out tomorrow!

Title: 50 Ways to Ruin a Rake
Author: Jade Lee Series: Rakes and Rogues Pubdate: May 5th, 2015 Mellie Smithson has a plan… Mellie Smithson is trapped in the country with no suitors and no prospects on the horizon except, perhaps, the exasperating—although admittedly handsome—guest of her father. Unwilling to settle, Mellie will do anything to escape to London... Trevor Anaedsley has a problem… Trevor Anaedsley’s grandfather has cut off his funds until he gets engaged. Beset by creditors, Trevor escapes to the country—ostensibly to visit his old tutor Mr. Smithson—where he meets Smithson’s lovely daughter Mellie. The obvious solution is suddenly before him—but will this fake engagement go as Trevor and Mellie plan? Or will they find that even the best laid plans often go awry? USA Today bestselling author Jade Lee has been scripting love stories since she first picked up a set of paper dolls. Ball gowns and rakish lords caught her attention early (thank you, Georgette Heyer), and her fascination with the Regency began. An author of more than thirty romance novels and winner of dozens of industry awards, Lee lives in Champaign, Illinois. A little bit about Veil of Scars:
Steven is tall, dark and damaged. He doesn't let anyone close, comfortable on the outside of normal life where he can hide his scars behind a wall so high that nothing gets through…except them. Despite a childhood marred with black and blue, he's survived and moved in with his two best friends, Sam and Charlie. Life should get better, but it was Sam who held him when the dark threatened to swallow him whole, Sam who gave him a place that felt like home, and Sam who knew every scar and every broken place. And it's all been taken away with Charlie sharing Sam's bed. Without his former confront, Steven realizes what's been hiding in the deep corners of his heart, and the truth sinks him like a weight. He’s in love with one or maybe both of his roommates. Navigating unrequited love tears Steven apart and brings him to the precipice, and he has to choose: his feelings or Sam’s…and Charlie’s? I'm hosting the release of FULL CONTACT, a fabulous and gripping new story by Sarah Castille. I couldn't put this story down, and it had everything I wanted in a great story: lots of tension, gripping suspense, laugh out loud lines, and chemistry enough to sizzle the pages. Ray and Sia are two characters that, by the end of the book, will make you feel as if you've met new friends. You'll root for them, while at the same time, curse each barrier that pops up.
The writing will pull you in with each passing word, and once you're finished reading, it'll be a story that sticks with you for weeks! I've given this five fabulous stars for a great read!

My part in GIRL CODE (Release: Late Spring 2015) called PERSISTENCE is due to the ed-it-tor in two days and a wake up. Cait, Jess, Lea, and Julie Ann are all working to make sure this is going to be a fabulous book for you to read! :) After that, I'll be moving on to edit book 2 of Empire Blue, which from those of you following, will be Dwayne's book. Few things to note with this...this story has been done since Spring of last year. Yes, Spring. Why am I so behind on sending it to the publisher? Well, life got in the way last year between illnesses, running a conference, being a VP for a writing chapter, coaching soccer, working full time, raising two lovely children...and finding my footing after all was said and done. So now, I have a motivation to have this book to my publisher before the end of March. On the heels of that, I'm working on a story that will tie into both of the books above. It'll be a sub-series of Empire Blue, and while I'm about a quarter the way done with this story, I still haven't come up with a series name for it. If you have suggestions, I'm all ears. But basically it'll involve a light link to the activity going on in Nyack and with the crew of Gonzalez brothers there, as well as a strong story line with a super secret non-government spy agency. Do I have your attention yet? *grins* This story is due to my ed-it-tor by the middle of July, so I'm hoping for a Fall release. And then FINALLY, the lovely Lea and I will be finishing our co-op story that is linked to Empire Blue. There's plenty more on the horizon after that, but I wanted to stop in and let you all know exactly what's going on and to get your ideas on a new series name. What's the limit? The sky, baby! XOXO, DC I'm exited to officially announce the first anthology, GIRL CODE, coming late Spring!
Girl code rule #5: Never cry in public. Screaming works, because you'll get the attention you need without the red and blotchy face. GIRL CODE, by DC Stone, Cait Jarrod, Lea Bronsen, and Jessica Jayne, with a special introduction by Julie Ann Walker. Special thank you to Jay Aheer for her phenomenal cover! All proceeds from sales of GIRL CODE are going to Wounded Warriors. Stick around for more information! Mystic Hearts, The Band of Friends series, Book 2 |
