Trent sat at his desk and stared at the screen. Just two words, ten little letters, but it screamed at him to make a change. Working as a Special Agent for the FBI didn’t leave a whole lot of time for a social life, and besides, anyone he came across he immediately studied, tried to determine their intentions, pushed to take them apart—piece by piece.

The boys down at the Bureau had been raving about some site called, Okay Cupid, but really, who could take a dating site seriously that was named after a fat little fucker who ran around shooting arrows at everyone…naked.

“For fuck’s sake,” he muttered and scrubbed his face. Settling his hands back on the keyboard again, he pushed his musings away and wrote the first thing that came to mind.

He read it. Then read it again and grimaced. “No. I sound like some geriatric geezer who’s looking to retire on some hillside.”

He burst out laughing as he read it over. “Now I sound like some cross between Indiana Jones and Magic Mike.” He rested his head in his hand and stared at the screen. “If I was a woman who wanted to find a man, would I really be looking through the Personal Ads doing so?”

He jumped out of his chair, grabbed his keys, tucked his creds in his back pocket, and headed out the door.

When I created Trent Rossi, who is the deeply mysterious, quiet, yet strong and hardheaded Special Agent assigned to a FBI task force in New York City, I fought with how I could get him down on paper to my readers with how I saw him in my head. For weeks I pondered his looks, something that would be unforgettable. This was the hardest part of Trent in my mind, because well, I already knew who he was. I understood how he thought, where he came from, and what he wanted to be.

After searching the internet for my model muse, I came across David Gandy and as many times as he’s been used as a model before, I couldn’t turn away. I tried, believe me I did. But he was Trent Rossi to me. And thus began the creation of this man that drives my heroine, Charlie, insane with lust and curiosity. You see, even though Trent is a Federal Agent, sometimes it can get a little hard to determine just which side of the law he’s truly on…

Intimate Danger is book one of the Empire Blue series and can be read as a standalone book. It’s due to release in May 2014.
