![]() Damn you, Nabisco. Sitting out here, watching my son play football, and smelling the sugary goodness, is NOT helping my diet. Two blocks away is where heaven begins. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here in scent hell. I curse you so much that after we're through here, yes, I'm treating the kids to cookies. Just saying. What's a smell that causes your toes to curl?

My girl, Lea, released her second book today, and this time with Evernight Publishing! *round of applause* I had the chance to beta read this and I gotta say, it was everything you want in a story--hot, fast and hard, angst. Hmmm, or rather, is that my recipe for a man. *winks*
Her story got me thinking on rock stars and how the darkness that surrounds each of them is striking, captivating, and just plain irresistible. Jared Leto totally does it for me. I can't help it. He's SMEXY. Take a look at the excerpt below and then let me know who your favorite rock star is. I'm always open to new .... possibilities. Happy Hump Day! BLURB: Shawn Torien is a handsome, arrogant bassist with the groove rock band Bloodless. At thirty four, he’s seen everything, been everywhere, and all is handed to him on a silver plate—groupies included. His rock star attitude is questioned when the record company’s young webmistress Samantha joins the band to cover their life on the road. Since she has crushed on Shawn for years, he takes great pleasure in teasing her and pushing her away... until he learns about the woman beneath the surface. EXCERPT: The backstage room is filling with people. Band members, roadies, management, and special guests such as family, media, and a few pre-selected fans. The place buzzes with chatting and chuckling, and I stop in the door to assess. Don’t see any eye-catching hotness yet. Sweat runs from my head, along my back, and down my abs. My soaked shirt glues to my skin, and I stink of hour-long transpiration. I need a shower, but there’s so much else I want to do first: get a drink, a smoke, and some pussy before the tour bus leaves. None of these are allowed on board. I’m electrical, high. I need to move, and my whole body thirsts to get higher. Next to a merchandise booth in a corner stands a table with plates of sandwiches and cut fruit, a selection of mineral water bottles, and alcoholic drinks. “Shawn! Shawn!” Strangers rush me with expectant smiles, probably wanting me to sign CD covers or something. But I’ve made up my mind. Ignoring them, I stride to the table, grab a can of cold beer and down it in one take. The icy beverage rushes through my throat and refreshes me. The sweaty hairs on my arms rise as if chilly air blew on them. I open another, gulp down the beer, and grab a third. “Hey, Shawn,” a female says behind me. I hate being interrupted, but I’ve heard that voice before. Beer in hand, I spin around. Oh, Samantha from the record company. I don’t know if that pleases or annoys me. She’s cute, though, with long brown tendrils at shoulder-length, and hazel eyes glowing with warm intelligence. The alcohol makes me a little tipsy; I can’t resist the want to tease her. I give her the can with a grin and proceed to take off my soaked shirt, as if it’s the most natural thing. Damp body heat and the sharp smell of sweat emanate as I lift my arms in the air, struggling to remove the wet fabric, groaning. Once done, I drop it to the floor and cross my arms, making my well-trained muscles protrude, and scrutinize her reaction. Offering a little male sexiness has worked on most females before. Flabbergasted is the best word to describe her face. I flash my teeth as her gaze runs over my torso. She can’t possibly be aware of her nostrils’ tiny movements, revealing her inhalation of my scent. I let a moment pass, then ask, pointing at the can in her hands, “You gonna have that beer?” “Oh.” She straightens with a deep breath, regains composure, looks at the brand logo on the can, and shakes her head. “No, I don’t drink alcohol at work.” I like her voice. It’s soft, comforting, reminds me of my mother’s. But when she hands me my drink, the wolf in me wants to play. I cover her hand and tug while taking a step closer, pulling her toward me. She wears a discreet perfume, the scent of prairie flowers, I think. Her cheeks blush as she lifts her chin to meet my eyes, and her pupils grow feverish. She’s holding her breath. With my other hand, I grab her round, firm butt and press her stomach against mine. All sounds around us vanish; the talking, the laughter. I focus on the girl in my arms. She’s not really my type, but knowing her infatuation, she’ll be an easy fuck. That’s all I need before getting on the bus. Tomorrow, it'll be someone else. I glance at the KISS patches on her chest. Gene Simmons once declared we’re all in this business for sex, and whoever says he does it for the music is lying. Besides, the girls beg to be screwed senseless by celebrities, so they can brag to their friends. Shawn in Bloodless slept with me! Squee! Maybe she thinks I’m going to kiss her, but I’m not. Call me crazy, but there’s a little romantic in me saving that for a special girlfriend—if such a thing is in the cards for a guy like me. Instead, I move my hands to her denim jacket and start unbuttoning it from the top. “You seem to need a little help with that,” I joke. Damn, we’re so close, and her feminine heat makes my blood boil. I picture bringing her to a dark corner behind the stage curtain and having her hands on my cock. I suggestively push my hardness against her warm thighs. She frowns and takes a step back. No? What is it? My beer breath? I withdraw as well. Too fucking bad. Eyes shimmering, she opens her mouth, but I turn and grab a new can. I mean, who the hell do you think you are to turn me down like that? I gulp the whole drink, release a solid burp, and take what must be the fifth can before leaving. Where to buy it: Evernight Amazon About Lea: Lea lives in Europe with her husband and three children. I know many were expecting to see Armed and Desired released today, and in case you don't follow me on Facebook, there has been a slight delay. The new release date has been set for September 10, 2013. I know it's a bit of a disappointment, but I promise it'll be well worth the wait, and plus--this gives us three more weeks to play some sexy, fun games! ;) In the meantime, I have a fabulous guest I'd like for you to meet ... Hi, I'm Mia Downing! I just released the third book from the Spy Games series and I love writing erotic romance. It's fun to give the characters angst and drama to work through and then get to use the sex scenes to further develop their romance. In real life I'm fairly boring--married for 18 years, have two kids and a small farm. Don't pity me--I like my life the way it is. I get enough outside excitement from the books I write! To celebrate the release of Spy Games: Endgame to Amazon, The Wild Rose Press is graciously offering for sale the first two books in the Spy Games series. The sale is taking place at all distributors! Now is the time to get a jump on this great series. The Wild Rose Press is offering my back list of books on sale for 50% until Friday, August 16! Click the link above to visit my page there! Book 1 of the Spy Games Series! $.99 at all distributors! Emma Walters didn't choose to be a spy, but when her crazy father was caught selling bombs to the wrong people, she was given a choice--become a spy or rot in jail. Her exciting new life as agent Kate Wells becomes more so when she discovers her new boss is the agent--undercover and investigating her father at the time--who took her to third base. Emma is already half in love with the dark and dangerous Chase Sanders. Kate wants nothing more than for him to finish what he started, but he's the devil incarnate. And one doesn't make deals or fall in love with the devil. If someone had told Chase he'd fall in love with a certain virgin when he was on his last mission, he would have shot them dead, sniper style. She was nothing more than collateral damage, damn it. But watching the sexy new spy morph into a bombshell killing machine is too much to bear. So when the powers that be command him to train her in the art of seduction for her first--and possibly last--mission, he's scared witless. Making love to Kate means preparing her for sex with another man. Somehow, Chase has to find a way to get Kate in--and out--of her mission without dying. And without falling in love. This book is an erotic romance. It contains graphic language, explicit, smokin' hot sex, menage, lots of juicy conflict, some suspense, a dark and dangerous spy boss and a spunky bombshell heroine. Available at: The Wilder Roses (TWRP Erotic Catalog) Amazon Barnes & Noble Kobo ARE Bookstrand Here's a little excerpt from Spy Games: Trained for Seduction if I havenât convinced you yet! Excerpt: "I guess it's time forâ¦you know. Dinnerâs over." He frowned, and for once she could see the wheels turning behind his brown eyes. "How about I make you a deal?" âA deal with the devil is never productive.â He grinned, and she sighed. âTell me.â âWe have all weekend, and Iâm a very compassionate, very patient man. What you lack in your life is control. Iâm going to give you control over when we make love. Itâs your call. I will wait patiently until you canât resist my charms any longer.â Control. She liked that idea, because he was right. The only things that were keeping her from jumping him now were the facts that she had to be here and she was scared as hell. If this were a date, sheâd still be scared as hell, but sheâd be more than willing to make the leap. âWhat happens if we make it to Sunday night and it hasnât happened?â âThen we have a problem. But I have faith in my seduction skills. It didnât take much to get you hot for me before. I donât need until Sunday night.â âEgo, Chase, ego,â she whispered. But that offer took an incredible amount of stress from her, and she heaved a sigh of relief. âSo how will you continue charming me?â âWell, we have dishes to do, and since you cleaned your plate, I promised you a movie.â âIâd like that. I havenât really watched much in the past year.â âNeither have I. So weâll make popcorn, and sit on the couch, and if youâre a very good girl, Iâll let you hold my hand.â She thought of his hand in hers, those long fingers caressing hers. She bit her lip. A deal with the devil was definitely not a good thing. âAnd if Iâm a bad girl?â The ego returned, and he smiled a devilish smile. âThen we wonât need to worry about Sunday.â Mia's page at The Wild Rose Press: http://www.wildrosepublishing.com/wildcatalog_v151/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=140 ![]()

A few weeks ago I had a friend, fellow author and Jersey Girl Sandra Bunino set something into motion that would really change both of our lives, and has it ever. It's called Challenge On, and basically what we're doing is pushing each other--and ourselves--to get the workouts in and the wordcount out. So Sandra started kickboxing and from what I read last night, the remarkable woman is apparently doing front kicks now. And she keeps mentioning something suspiciously about busting werewolves butts. I don't know what that is all about, and I'm almost afraid to ask. I, on the other hand, recently quit smoking back in May and have struggled with my body (and mind) since then. No secret my muse seemed to go on vacation, but my energy level plummeted and I really didn't want to do anything. Did I feel good about quitting smoking? Well, yes. But did I like all those folks smiling and encouraging me on? *laughs* I wanted to punch someone is really where my frustration level was at. But now, I'm beginning to feel more like myself. And hey, I guess if the message was, "Quit smoking and you'll lose weight," we'd have a million skinny people across the planet dropping those cancer sticks like the bad habit they are. But instead of wallowing in my woe is me, I started a program called Insanity, and let me tell you, Shawn T has kicked my ass. He's kicked it so well, he's reminded me I'm not a spring chicken anymore and subtly put pressure on my memories to include those of all the previous abuse I put my body through in the military--and most painfully--my knees. Mr. Stone did warn me about this, but see, I'm stubborn and thought I could just push through it. Now, with my Challenge On, I've been falling off the wagon. So, now it's on to phase 2--and it's literally what the doctor ordered. Walking. Until I can get my knees checked out (and medically checked out) this poor body has been moved to walking only. And that's where you have me getting up at five thirty in the morning and doing so. Because really, once I'm done with the little man's football practice at the end of the day, the time for tending to yourself seems to disappear. So Sandra, my lovely challenge partner, there you have it. I'm still in the game--and yes, I'm back on track with writing, too. ;) Outside of that folks, I've got two great announcements to make. One, I have a new release popping out on the 16th, with Decadent Publishing, called Armed and Desired. Take a look here to find out more information, and trust me, make sure you have the volume turned way up, and the lights very low. *grins* The second announcement is I've joined a street team! This group is to have fun and promote authors Nikki Prince, Shyla Colt, Jessica Jayne, Doris O'Connor, Lila Shaw, Sandra Bunino, DC Stone, and Raven McAllen. The group was put together for our "super readers" to give you the inside track for new release news, advance reader digital copes (when available), swag packs, and promotional material. Please respect each other and join in. We'll send you great things like bookmarks, pens and other sexy swag items to share with your friends, coworkers, book clubs, coffee houses, salons, or anywhere lovers of red hot romance visit. By signing up to be a member of our "Street Team" you are agreeing to participate at least once a week with:
This is not an author group. We love reader participation and reader feedback. Assignments with swag prizes must be completed for prizes to be received. Have fun, and help bring authors of our Street Team to the top of the charts . . . Please remember that any eARCs/ecopies you may receive as being part of this group are not to be shared with others or uploaded to any internet sites. And now that all the legalities are out of the way, who is with me? I know there are a few Stoners out there who have expressed a desire in something like this before, so if you're still interested, just send me a message through my contact link and let me know. Have a happy Tuesday, and remember....drink coffee! :) DC ![]() Today I have Taryn visiting with me and talking about her new highly anticipated release, Heat Wave. DC: Hi Taryn! Thanks for stopping by. What can you tell us about Heat Wave? TARYN: Here’s the blurb: Sent into the human realm to retrieve prodigal princess, Zena Night, Bhyrne Raines is shocked and unprepared for his carnal reaction to the sexy succubus. In service to the succubus queen, the rugged enforcer must stifle the instant passion exploding within him. Fulfilling his royal duty doesn’t allow for quickie dalliances. His biological clock is ticking, and he begins to enter breedspawn, an intense and unstoppable frenzy of mating all fire-demon males must endure. But the more he wants to avoid Zena, the more he’s drawn to her. Reluctant to give up her carefree life of partying among the mortals when the hot-as-sin Bhyrne comes to fetch her for the queen, Zena uses her succubus wiles to entice him, or at least delay the inevitable trip to the royal court. Once in the demon stronghold, hidden deep within the Catskill mountains, she learns the reason for the summons: she must choose a consort within two days. Zena needs a mate. Bhyrne needs to mate. With time running out for both of them, they each turn to 1Night Stand. Can Madame Eve come to the rescue? So, HEAT WAVE is the fourth book in my Sleepy Hollow series of 1Night Stand stories for Decadent Publishing. It’s an erotic paranormal romance. We’ve met the heroine, Zena Night before. She’s the sister of Lily Night, the heroine of LIGHTNING and Dagney Night, the heroine of FROST. Zena’s hero, Bhryne Raines is the cousin of Max Raines, the hero of FROST! It’s a standalone story and you can read it without having read the others…but… [winkie] DC: (laughs) I get it, I get it, let’s buy them all to get the full picture. It’s a very interesting idea. What inspired it? TARYN: When we first see Zena in LIGHTNING, she’s being kind of sultry, naughty and seductive. She HAD to have her own story! DC: Ah, I completely get that. I can’t remember how many times I’ve had a character that just won’t shut up until I give them their own story. I know you release several stories a year. Is there anything you are working on now? TARYN: Big announcement coming later this month or in early September about the Sleepy Hollow series. Aside from that, I’m not sure I’ll have any more published by the end of 2013, but I’m working on a few secret projects that are scheduled for release in 2014 or 2015. DC: Oh, exciting news! Well, I hope you’ll come back and let us all know when you can. Since you seem to have some open space as far as writing time goes, do you have any goals for this year? TARYN: To finish up the projects I’ve committed to! DC: I’ve always found your ideas very interesting and engaging. Many authors struggle coming up with ideas if they haven’t found their “nitch.” How do you come up with your ideas? TARYN: Some of the projects, such as the Sleepy Hollow series, have a framework already in place: The clever and all-knowing Madame Evangeline of the exclusive 1Night Stand agency arranges a sexy one-night hook-up for two people in need of one. And Madame Eve never fails. So…with that basic guideline, you develop characters and give them a story! DC: And there you have it, the rest, as they say, is history. Speaking of which, can you share with us “the call” story? TARYN: A couple of years ago, Angela James of Carina Press left a voicemail message on my answering machine that she wanted to talk to me about my Regency romance, Healing Hearts. It was a Friday, and I was at work. I saw her on Twitter and tweeted, but she tweeted back that it would have to wait until after the weekend. I figured that it was unlikely to be bad news since she’d called. Then I got an email acceptance! All my acceptances since then have been by email. So…it’s possible I’ve never gotten an actual “call.” But the emails are awesome! DC: (laughing) That I can totally understand! Tell us, because you just mentioned the other job, and many of us do work outside of writing. What do you enjoy most about it? TARYN: Making stuff up. DC: So simple, yet so true. Where do you start? Research, plotting, character, or…? TARYN: Character. DC: What did you learn from writing your first book or what do you wish you’d known before becoming published? TARYN: That writing was a business. That a pretty cover and slot on Amazon does not necessarily guarantee you’ll make any bestseller lists. DC: (nodding) Yes, so true. Do you have a favorite time of the day to write? TARYN: I have limited time. So it’s weekends for me. Earlier in the day. I’ve pretty much drained myself by 3. (I have zero discipline.) DC: Many struggle or have to fit in time when they can. And yet then, often we don’t have the inspiration needed to do it at that time. Do you have a favorite hero and/or heroine in your books and why? TARYN: I always love the latest ones. But it’s hard to choose. Like choosing a favorite child. DC: That’s understandable. What about with this book, do you have a favorite scene and why? TARYN: Probably when Bhyrne has to escort Zena back to the Queen’s Court in Duyvil Tand (Devil Tooth), the demon stronghold in the Catskills. It was fun to write. There are creepy demons, an authoritative queen, hero defiance and possessiveness…and total HOTNESS when Bhyrne goes into full-blown heat. DC: Holy shit, I’m anticipating reading it! (laughs) How do you balance writing and your everyday life? TARYN: Poorly. DC: Well, simply enough, but hey, at least you get it done! Alright Taryn, give us an excerpt of your new release: TARYN: Holy freeze gun, Batman. The words died before she managed to expose them to air. Her mouth snapped shut. One of the Queen’s guards stood before her, huge and tall, nearly twice the size of most of the other males in the joint, a hella hunka supernatural male. Clearly not human, although Hugo Boss’d to his Adam’s apple in an apparent bid to fit in among the humans trolling for hot sex, illicit drugs, watered-down booze and loud music. Beneath the fabric of the unstructured designer suit, the toned muscles of a demonic warrior rolled like tidal waves. Even without the small lapel pin the uninformed might mistake for the The Rolling Stones’ logo, she’d recognize him for a captain of the guard. Maybe the Queen’s own Captain. Hellfire and cotton candy. Trouble. T-R-O-U-B-L-E. But, by the goddess, whattahottie! Despite her certainty that his presence in the club corridor boded ill for her, the force of her sudden hunger shook her. Like lightning. Thunder. A desperate bolt out of the blue. Instant connection to him on the paranormal plane, as if he’d wrapped her aura in gold chains and tugged her to him. But did that fast lane to heaven run one way or two? A grim expression straightened the lines of what otherwise might have been a generous, sensuous mouth. A military buzz cut had weed-whacked hair the color of iron. And it didn’t stop there. Without doubt, metal fortified every single cell in the massive male’s body, pure titanium flowing in his veins. The stern planes and angles of a hard-edged, swoon-worthy face set grimly as cement. Though he lounged in the hallway like any Archie or Jughead waiting in line to discharge his rented beer in a urinal, he exuded authority, his carriage and bearing such that he made the others look like a pack of Twizzlers. Oh. Yeah. More than a mere guardsman, she guessed. An enforcer. Ruh-roh.
